Meet The Proofreader
My name is Estela Perez and I run my freelance proofreading business out of my home in the great state of Texas. I graduated from Texas State University in 2016 with a BS degree in journalism and mass communication, with a minor in criminal justice. I then got my dental assisting certification and worked as a dental assistant for a couple years before I got my certification in Transcript Proofreading: Theory and Practice.
Editing and proofreading have always been my favorite part of any writing project I had. I have read thousands and thousands of transcript pages and can safely say this is what I love to do. Not only does it merge the interests reflected in my degree, but it allows me to be a small part in an important industry.
My Proofreading Resources
My proofreading resources are the Merriam-Webster English Dictionary, Margie Wakeman Wells’ Bad Grammar/Good Punctuation, The Gregg Reference Manual, and Morson’s English Guide for Court Reporters. Besides referring to those sources, I will also be reading for content. If something does not make sense, I will bring it to your attention. This protects the quality of your work, therefore protects your professional reputation. The less time you spend doing what a proofreader can efficiently and quickly do for you, the more jobs you can take.
